So, one of the things that I'd personally like to be added, and that a few others would is the ability to play as a character that is not "Red".
A way I feel that this could be accomplished is by having the player's character more or less be a blank Pallet that can be customized at the beginning of the game. This could entail the choice of a few different outfits (color swaps of Red's outfit, or other characters'), a customizable face (of course with limited options so that the portrait of the character isn't weird), and a few questions that can fit in with the dialogue, such as "Where are you from".
The relationship with Professor Oak could be rewritten as the player character being a late addition to the school, and Oak's class having an open slot, or some other past relationship.
Overall, in these sorts of simulators, I feel that customizability isn't a true necessity, but I feel like it would make a nice addition.
I look forward to trying out more of the game in the future, and hope for more versatility and choices.
