Would it be easier to make each grade year into a seperate game? - Page 2 - The Pokémon Academy Life Community

Thank you Forgotten Felix, I generally prefer people to be blunt, but it is still difficult for me to correctly interpret the intention behind message. plus I can over dramatic and sensitive when I have drama going on in my life, which is a pretty bad mindset to have when you are posting your opinion on the internet.

While separating it into different games would make things kinda hard when it comes to saves, it could work if they were separated within the same game. So instead of simply having a 'start' option there would be the options for 'year one', 'year two', and 'year three'; with the second and third years locked/greyed out until the previous school year had been completed. The start of the second and third years could also begin with some kind of status or recap to show some of the decisions you made the previous year, which pokemon you acquired, who your roommate is, what your electives are, that kind of thing.

In essence it would be the same kind of idea but with an easier to handle process and the ability to draw on previous saves. I mean, surely it would be easier to release the full first year, then patch those games than to create three separate games that would more than likely be unable to share save data without a lot of trouble and effort.

If such a mechanic was implemented the problem is that some of the variables may work well or be read correctly later on in the other years. If this occurs then they may have to redo all the if they cannot find the mistake. Coding is a very long and difficult process, and the longer the game and the more variables that it has the longer it takes to test and debug every variable.

So if you were to make it one whole game it would probably be better to finish the whole game as a whole rather releasing part only to find out that the variables in the first part don't work with the variables in the second part.

This a very lengthy and time consuming process, which is why games like "Mass Effect", "Final Fantasy 13", and "Half Life 2" where separated into episodes. And yes I am aware that of the three examples that I gave only one of them is comparable to this project in terms of the amount of variables that it has to deal with, being "Mass Effect".

I do agree that splitting it up into 3 separate games is NOT a good idea (in my opinion), but then I'm worried about the size of megabytes or even gigabytes this game will take up on my computer. It will be extremely long to download the finished project and it will be taking much place on your computer once it is downloaded.

Am I the only one thinking about this? :/
