Hi everyone!

With Demo 1.0.3 out after way too long in development, in another effort to speed up production, we are open to recruiting new writers to join the team and work with existing members.

Tasks:
- Writing the script for individual character routes
- Helping with the main storyline when needed

As you all know, there are many, many characters involved so we need more hands on the project. This is unpaid. We're working on this project out of passion.

How to Apply:
Last time we did this, we assigned a scenario/prompt for people to work from. That didn't work as well as we would have hoped. This time we're going to make the submission process a little more open-ended. So here's what we need from you:

- Submit TWO scenarios (MINIMUM: 2,000 words each) involving characters currently present in the visual novel.
- The first scenario should be casual, everyday slice-of-life dialogue.
- The second scenario should be drama focused dialogue.
- These scenarios can take place anywhere involving any characters. This is up to your creativity.
- You are allowed to include branching choices (not required), as long as the choices matter.

We want to see how well you can interpret characters' personalities based on the material already provided in the visual novel and then apply them realistically to different situations.

Some people might be better at writing casual, humorous dialogue. Some people might be better at writing dramatic dialogue filled with emotions. Some people might be good at both. Whatever your strengths might be, we want to know.

Format:
Please follow this basic format. Example:

BLUE: [dialogue]!
RED: [dialogue]!

Blue leaves the scene.

LEAF: [dialogue]?

Think of it like a stage play. Tell the story with solid lines from the characters and short, brief actions. Please do not write us a novel with walls of descriptive text.

Submit your work to pokemonvisualdev@gmail.com. Please note that you may not receive any responses unless you were selected or if we require followup information from you.

Thanks!

I want to ask because I'm not sure:
in your 2 scenarios, I understand the fact we must write minimally 2000 words each. :geek:
So, can we (or must) make "specials parts" like: in the case (exemple) Red have 3 points or more of "appeal", the text become "Red grab the phone of Leaf hand's" to replace "Red doing anything" if he have less than 3 points ? :|

So can we (or must) make chooce parts like:
what direction take ?
-Cinema
-Library
-Arcade Center
-Let Leaf and May choose

So, if I have the time, I'm be happy to help ;)

Hi, we appreciate the enthusiasm, but if you cannot properly spell or use proper grammar, you will not be considered.

Those who speak English as a second language are welcome, just as long as the English is perfect or near perfect.

I have interest in participating.

For my fellow authors interested in partaking in submissions, I recommend downloading the Grammarly Widget to help with grammar and spelling.

It helps clean up English mistakes much better than Microsoft Word or any other Spell Check program I have come across in some time.

Do we write it is Red's perspective or as if we are watching it from outside.

So for example would it be
Leaf turned towards Red in astonishment
or
Leaf turned towards me in astonishment?

Write from Red's perspective with a focus on past tense, but present tense is okay sometimes, if it's an ongoing thing. He's narrating what he's seeing. "That person fell down!"

"Leaf looked at me with a face of astonishment." is fine, but for the situation maybe "Leaf is looking at me." is better, because as he's saying this in his head she's still looking at him. It sounds kinda complicated but it really flows very easily once you're in the right headspace.

Soundwave is right in his response above.

Another angle to look at this is that we're dealing with a visual novel. Everything that the RL player sees is already laid out in front of them. In a situation like "Leaf turning toward..." the RL player will already see Leaf facing them. There's no reason to state otherwise other than from a storytelling perspective, in which case—as you should know from playing the VN—is from the player character's point of view.

You can, however, include notes in between dialogue lines, such as:

Quote:
LEAF: [dialogue]!
RED: [dialogue]?

Leaf is visibly angry

RED: [dialogue]?!

The purpose of these descriptors is to direct how the character art should be represented during this scene.

On this note, you should avoid lines that follow these expression changes like: "RED: Leaf looks mad." Of course she looks mad! As a player reading/looking at the screen, it's obvious she's mad. There's no need to state the obvious unless you expand the line into an extended monologue to clarify thoughts that the player will otherwise be unaware of (which should also be used in moderation to keep things moving smoothly).

Additionally on the subject of displayables on the screen, you should be extremely careful not to include elements that complicate how a VN is displayed. This isn't some AAA high-particle CG game. Keep it simple, straightforward, and easy to understand.

My english is that bad? :? :(

So, I don't understand if the answer was something like yes" or "no".
