'''Calem''' is one of [[Red]]'s (player character) roommate options in ''[[Pokémon Academy Life]]''. He comes from a family of professional Pokémon trainers. As a result, he is a very studious and diligent individual who is gifted in Pokémon knowledge, from both the combat and academic sides. He takes these gifts seriously as he fully intends to pursue a scholarly life after graduating from [[Kobukan Academy]].

==First glance==
Calem is tall for his age and fairly lanky. He is shown to be very responsible, aside from the periodic mental lapse, and many of his peers look to him as an exemplary academy student. Calem is so capable of staying organized that he sometimes oversteps his boundaries and gets involved with the personal matters of the people around him. However, if he can help it, Calem prefers solitude and a quiet environment where he can sort out his thoughts.

He gets along well with [[Cheren]], as the two of them tend to follow logic more than anything else. One of his ongoing pain points is [[Serena]], his next-door neighbor whom he's known since childhood. The two of them frequently butt heads over different ideologies and sometimes even bicker over the most trivial matters. However, they are still friends and wish each other success and happiness.

==Plot==
Calem enrolled in [[Kobukan Academy]] as [[Professor Sycamore]]'s protégé, attending the school on the professor's recommendations, much like the way both the player and [[Blue]] did. Though Calem is there primarily to prepare for his ideal career in Pokémon research, he does spend time in an assortment of school activities, such as the [[Kobukan Academy Student Council|student council]]. Early on, the player witnesses his strained friendship with Serena, as the two do not see eye to eye when it comes to dreams and life goals.
