Fighting is one of eighteen known Pokémon types.
Combat
Offensively, Fighting-type attacks are strong against Dark, Ice, Normal, Rock and Steel Pokémon, weak against Bug, Fairy, Flying, Poison and Psychic Pokémon, and do not affect Ghost Pokémon.
Defensively, Fighting-type Pokémon are strong against Bug, Dark and Rock attacks and weak against Fairy, Flying and Psychic attacks.

Marshal is the instructor of the Fighting-type elective at Kobukan Academy.
Excluding Red (player character), first-year students at the start of the game with an affinity for Fighting-types include Calem and May.
