Fire is one of eighteen known Pokémon types.
Combat
Offensively, Fire-type attacks are strong against Bug, Grass, Ice and Steel Pokémon and weak against Dragon, Fire, Rock and Water Pokémon.
Defensively, Fire-type Pokémon are strong against Bug, Fairy, Fire, Grass, Ice and Steel attacks and weak against Ground, Rock and Water attacks.

Blaine is the instructor of the Fire-type elective at Kobukan Academy.
Excluding Red (player character), first-year students at the start of the game with an affinity for Fire-types include May, Serena and Flannery.
