Hilda is a girl from Nuvema Town of the Unova region, much like her longtime childhood friends Hilbert, Cheren and Bianca, the latter being her roommate at Kobukan Academy. She is a model student, topping her peers academically and also excelling in athletic activities, especially tennis.

First glance
Hilda is tall for a girl her age. Combined with her resolute expression and mannerisms, she is often mistaken to be a senior student at the academy. She is a serious student, much like Hilbert, and is highly dedicated to her tasks at hand. However, unlike Hilbert, Hilda maintains an open mind and knows her own limits and place. Ironically, because she understands the differences between reality and ideology, she can be critical to anyone she disagrees with.
Hilda's sternness tends to come from her role as a caretaker for those around her, though her way of handling things can sometimes be brusque. As she's known Hilbert the longest among their circle of friends, Hilda spends more time monitoring him and making sure he doesn't walk or talk his way into trouble. Likewise, Hilda treats Bianca—whom she shares a sister-like relationship—in a similar fashion, as she can be seen scolding her as often as Bianca's own parents do.
