First glance
Cynthia was awarded the National Tournament MVP trophy in her first year at Kobukan Academy, even though Kobukan's Battle Team did not win the championship. Feeling that the academy could not teach her enough, she dropped out that same year to travel the world. A long time legendary Pokémon enthusiast, Cynthia spent her first year studying the lore and history of the world. She continued her training with her Pokémon and was crowned regional Champion of the Sinnoh League at the age of 17, but promptly stepped down to continue her adventures. Despite being at Kobukan Academy for less than a year, she is fond of the memories she made there and continues to visit the campus when she can.
While visiting, Cynthia spends most of her time spectating campus events, particularly the matches that take place in the Battle Hall. As a celebrity of sorts, she is often requested to make appearances as a guest instructor, much to her delight.
Trivia
- Her birthday is a reference to the first time her anime counterpart debuted in the Diamond & Pearl anime series in Japan, back in 2007.
- Of the characters to include in Pokémon Academy Life, Cynthia was one of the most demanded early on in development. In a public poll, numerous fans of the visual novel listed her as their favorite female character, despite being told beforehand that she will not be a character the player can romance.
- Originally, Cynthia was supposed to be an academy staff member. That idea was scrapped fairly quickly in order to stay true to her inquisitive and adventurous nature in the core series games.
